We found a $10 plane ticket on Wizz Air to Kyiv (Kiev). We had a little extra time and decided to leave Bratislava for a few days and check out the Ukrainian capitol. The flight was only about 80 minutes or so and took us to Zhuliany (IEV) airport which is far closer to the city center than Boryspil (KBP), where most other airlines fly. The cab ride into the city should cost no more than 200 hryvnia. It is better to use an app like Bolt or Uber. Our accommodation was a small apartment in the heart of the Maidan. There were many young people out and about and live music started at around 1900 (7:00PM) every night. It was a very lively area.
Over the next couple of days we ventured around the city and explored the Oleg Antonov State Aviation Museum, Sofiyivska Square, Babin Yar, and the A.V. Fomin Botanical Garden.
